Each year UPSC receives scores of applications for the Indian Administrative Services Examination. India’s computer penetration is at less than 10 percent and in this scenario it is fitting that an exam like IAS continues to accept online and offline application of aspirants. Thus this dual application procedure continues to provide equal opportunities for aspirants from different parts of the country. Following is a step by step procedure for online and offline application followed by a list of do’s and don’ts for application.

 


ONLINE

·  Log on UPSC official website. http://upsconline.nic.in/index.php

·  New Users are required to create a login ID. (In this step you are required to provide basic personal details and register with a valid email ID).

·  Once you have successfully completed registration you will be issued your Login ID and password. (This login ID and password is important for online application).

·  Next Click on the Online Recruitment application link for IAS exam.

·  Click on Apply now link

·   Login now using your user ID and password.

·   The registration process consists of two parts Part I and II.

·   During the first part of the process you are required to upload passport sized photograph and signature.

·   Next you are required to make payment of application fee. There are three options for payment of application fee.

a) Cash payment in any branch of State Bank of India.

b) Payment through debit or credit card.

c)  Payment through net banking facility.

 (Please note that payment of application fee is important in order to be able to proceed to the next part of registration).

·  Click on preview button before submission of online application form

·  Note registration number obtained on successful completion of online application.

OFFLINE

·   Obtain application form from any of the specified post offices.

·   Make payment of application fee for the exam.

·   Fill up the IAS application form.

·   Send the application form to the address mentioned in the notification before last date of submission.

Some DO’s and DON’Ts for filling up of IAS application form

DO’s

1.    Before submission of application form please ensure that

·   The name and year of examination is correctly indicated on AF.

·   You have entered all the required information in online AF.

·   Photograph is pasted firmly in the space provided for the same.

·   Changed responses are darkened completely.

·   You have signed the declaration.

·   That you are using pre addressed envelope supplied with mail application form and number

·   You have read relevant rules for application and examination.

·   You note eight digit registration number.

DON’Ts

·  Do not use photocopy of application form.

·  Do not make any unwanted marks on the form.

·  Do not staple, pin, mutilate, scribble, tear, or wet the form.
