Chartered Accountancy is a highly valued profession in India. Pursuing a CA is by no means an easy task. The exam demand loads of practice, hard work and an unfailing dedication. The Common Proficiency Test or CA CPT as it is known is a common eligibility test for candidates wishing to pursue the chartered accountancy course from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Candidates who qualify this exam move one step in their goal and gain eligibility for the Integrated Professional Competency Course (IPCC) which is held in two sections.
Important Dates for CA CPT December 2014:
• Start date for online application: October 07, 2014 [Tuesday]
• Last date for online application: October 28, 2014 [Tuesday]
CA CPT Exam December 2014 will be conducted on December 14, 2014 (Sunday).

• Session 1 Time: 10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Section A- Fundamentals of Accounting
Section B- Mercantile Laws
• Section 2 Time: 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm
Section C- General Economics

Eligibility:-
• Educational Qualification:-
1. An applicant who has passed class 10 examination from a school which is recognized by the Central Government is eligible to apply for CPT.
2. Those who have completed class 12 (senior secondary) and posses an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply.
3. Candidates who have passed B.Com, M.Com, LLB, ICWA, CS or MBA at the very first attempt are eligible to apply.
4. Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
5. An applicant who has registered or on before April 01 and October 01 can appear for CA CPT which is held in the months of June and December of the calendar year.
How to Apply:-
Applicants can download online application form from the official website. Application forms along with information brochure can also be obtained from the Additional Secretary (Examinations), The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi – 110 002 on payment of Rs 1000 (Rs 500 towards examination fee and Rs 500 for information brochure and application form. The information brochure containing application form can also be obtained from regional and branch offices of ICAI on payment of cash.

Application Fee:-
The application fee for CA CPT Exam is Rs 500. Candidates obtaining information brochure from Additional secretary of examinations are required to pay Rs 1000 (Rs 500 towards application fee and Rs 500 for information brochure and application form). The accepted modes of payment of application fee is through Master/VISA/Maestro Debit and credit card.

CA CPT Paper Pattern:
• Duration: 4 hours (2 hours for each session)
• Sections: 04
Section A- Fundamentals of Accounting (60 marks)
Section B- Mercantile Laws (40 Marks)
Section C- General Economics (50 Marks)
Section D-Quantitative Aptitude(50 Marks)
• Minimum aggregate (pass mark): 50 percent
• Marking : 01 mark for right answer
• Negative marking: 0.25 for wrong answer.
