Kuvempu University located in Shimoga was started in the year 1987 and it offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in wide range of disciplines. Its campus is called Jnana Sahyadri, which means The Sahyadri of knowledge.

Criteria for Admissions:-
• Students applying for any of the courses offered by the university will be selected on the merit basis.
• The original entry qualification of HSC/ Diploma Certificate or Degree or Provisional Certificate and a copy attested must be submitted during the time of admission.
• Along with the merit marks, university will also follow the eligibility criteria set for each of the courses offered by them.

Campus is spread over 230 acres which provides huge Wi-Fi enabled campus, well designed, fully equipped, modern and spacious classrooms, IT centre, labs, library, cafeteria with grass & wooden furniture which imparts a warm and cozy atmosphere, students clubs, separate hostels for girls and boys and many other facilities for students to spend their precious years with enthusiasm.
Special Features:-
• The university has 59 post-graduate departments of studies in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law offering 45 post-graduate programmes, four PG diplomas and one undergraduate programme.
• To help students plan their career and seek placement, the Employment Information and Guidance Bureau has been established on the campus.
• The University has 184 affiliated colleges, five constituent colleges (one is autonomous) and other three autonomous colleges, five B. P. Ed. colleges, six law colleges.
