University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) was established in the year 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand with an objective to be a premier international institution with state-of-the-art facilities to provide world-class education, training, research, consultancy, and outreach services in the Energy, Transportation and Infrastructure sectors.
