The University of Mumbai offers PhD programmes in the faculties of studies.a) Faculty of Arts
b) Faculty of Commerce
c) Faculty of Science
d) Faculty of Law
e) Faculty of Technology
The university offers different specializations for aspirants in terms of PhD programmes
Economics, Sociology, Chemical Technology, Statistics, Civics and Politics, Psychology, Law, English, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Marathi, Geography, Gujarati, Hindi , Physics, Education , Computer Science, Kannada, Commerce, Life Science, Sindhi, Urdu, Philosophy, German ,Russian , Arabic and French.
The University conducts and PhD Entrance Test (PET) for admission to the following courses of study.
Eligibility: Masters degree from a recognized university with minimum aggregate of 55 percent and score in PhD entrance test.
Exemption for PET:-
• Applicants who have qualified in GATE/SET/NET/(JRF) examinations are exempt from appearing for PET.
• Applicants who hold a Teacher Fellowship with CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR and DBT are also exempt.
Mumbai University PhD Entrance Test Syllabus:
The syllabus shall consist of compulsory and core papers at the post graduate degree level in the respective subjects of the Mumbai University.
Paper Pattern for Entrance Test:-
The Paper Pattern for Entrance Test is as follows
1. Objective -40 marks
2. Long Answers- 30 marks
3. Short Answers- 30 marks

How to Apply:-
1. Log on to http://mu.ac.in and download application form and prospectus.
2. A demand draft of Rs 100 in favor of the recognized Research Center within 15 days of declaration of result.
3. The duly filled application must be sent to the university office before the last date for application form submission.
