Gandhigram Rural Institute started in the year 1956, situated in Tamil Nadu developed by Dr. T. S. Soundaram and Dr. G. Ramachandran has become a nationally and internationally recognized Institute for its contribution to rural education, so much so that the New Education Policy of the Nation reflects the principles evolved here in developing the rural university concept.

How to apply:-
• Students can apply to University by downloading the admission form from the official website of the university or one can collect the prospectus cum application form from the university campus itself.
• Duly filled form, registration fees, required certificates and other documents must be submitted to the office on or before the last date of the submission.
• Registration fees: Rs. 230/-
Mode of Payment:-
Students can pay the registration as well as course fees through various modes as follows:
• Through cash payment / remittance at the Canara Bank at Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram
• Through Demand Draft in favour of “The Registrar, The Gandhigram Rural Institute” payable at Canara Bank, GRI,Gandhigram (Code 8500) / State Bank of India, Ambathurai (Code 3373) and any Nationalized/ Scheduled Bank in Dindigul.
Criteria for Admissions:-
• Admission will be done strictly on the merit basis of the students.
• The original entry qualification of HSC/ Diploma Certificate or Degree or Provisional Certificate and a copy attested must be submitted during the time of admission.
• Eligibility rules as specified for each course shall be strictly followed and shall not be relaxed under any circumstance.

University has huge campus spread over 200 acres of green and bushy land, furnished with state of the art equipment and facilities and is Wi-Fi enabled. The air conditioned academic complex consists of faculty offices, well equipped theatre style and classic lecture halls, an auditorium, library and computer labs, centre of advanced studies, separate hostels of girls and boys, modern cafeteria, sports facilities and medical facilities.
