PSTET 2014 Exam Dates | Notification | Pattern
The right to free and compulsory education has opened the floodgates to recruitment of a large number of teachers for teaching at primary and upper primary level. Hence the teacher eligibility test (TET) has gained preference as a standardized qualification among aspirants. Various state governments in India conduct TET as per the recommendations of the NCTE. The department of School Education of the Government of Punjab is tasked with the responsibility of PSTET exam (Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test). The pattern of this exam is similar to other TET and is an important requirement for teaching aspirants to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII.
Important Dates for PSTET 2014:
• Start date for online registration: November 20, 2013 (Wednesday).
• Last date for online registration: December 10, 2013 (Tuesday).
• Start date for deposit of application fee (in bank): November 20, 2013 (Wednesday).
• Last date for deposit of application fee (in bank): December 11, 2013 (Wednesday).
• Last date for submission of forms: December 16, 2013 (Monday).
• Upload of Admit Card online: December 18, 2013 (Wednesday).

Schools under PSTET
PSTET shall apply to schools owned and managed by punjab state government/local bodies and aided schools. PSTET is also applicable to unaided private schools who may exercise the option of considering the exam for recruitment.

Eligibility:-
Candidates having the following minimum educational qualification are eligible to apply for PSTET.

Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of two year Diploma in
Elementary

in final year two Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition

Education (B.Ed).

Senior
Secondary or its equivalent with atleast 50 percent marks and passed or
appearing for Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in
Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and
Procedure).

Secondary or its equivalent with atleast 50 percent marks and passed or
appearing for two year diploma program in education (Special Education).

Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing
in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special
Education).

Note:-
• Relaxation of 5 percent in case of SC/ST/OBC and differently abled candidates.
• Degree and diploma courses recognized by National Council for Technical Education (NCTE) and Rehablitation Council of India (RCI) for special education will be considered.
• Persons with B.Ed or D.Ed (Special Education) are required to undergo six months NCTE training programme in elementary education.
• Please note that the minimum eligibility norms prescribed for admission is as per the guidelines laid down by NCTE.
• Candidates in their final year are admitted provisionally for PSTET and their certificate shall be valid only on passing the mentioned examination.
• Candidates not having any one of the above qualifications will not be eligible for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test.
How to Apply:-
Following is a step by step procedure for applying for PSTET
• STEP 01: Online registration.
• STEP 02: Upload of photograph and signature.
• STEP 03: Printing of bank challan
• STEP 04: Confirmation of examination fee
• STEP 05: Dispatching of confirmation page.
The Confirmation Page must be dispatched in an envelope of size 12 x 9. You are required to paste address slip on the envelope superscribing APPLICATION FOR PSTET. The following needs to be sent to Post Box No.1828,Post Office Sector 62, Mohali (Punjab) PIN 160062 through ordinary post.

All questions in PSTET test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There is no negative marking.

•A person who scores more than 60 percent marks in PSTET exam is considered as PSTET pass.
• A concession of 5 percent is granted to SC/ST/OBC and PWD candidates in accordance with the policy of reservation.
• This weightage to the PSTET scores in the recruitment process; however, qualifying the PSTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
