NATA Syllabus 2014

There is no predefined syllabus as such for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA). The topics that form part of the syllabus have evolved over the past few years.  Topics and concepts revolve around the sections of Drawing and Computer Aesthetic Sensitivity. The objective of this syllabus is to ascertain the candidate’s ability to draw and sense of perception and application in keeping with principles of architecture. Following is recommended course of study for the NATA exam.

  • Design and drawing of geometrical and abstract shapes and patterns in pencil.
  • Architectural awareness and architectural terminology.
  • Identifying commonly used materials and objectives based on textural qualities and color.
  • Historical and contemporary buildings of Architectural importance.

  • Awareness of persons, place, buildings etc of architectural importance.
Aesthetic Sensitivity
  • Aesthetic sensitivity and drawing skills.

  • Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using shapes and forms.

Creative Sensitivity and mental drawing
  • Scales and Proportion
  • (Free hand sketching of objectives and activities commonly seen in rural/urban and suburban context such as furniture, machine, landscape, buildings, kitchen, playground, market,railway platform, exhibition center etc.
  • Enlargement and reduction of drawings and mirror images etc).
